Just a taste of what this country is in for if Rick Perry miraculously made it into the White House in 2012.

"You know thinking makes my head hurt. That ever happen to you?"
Courtesy of the Huffington Post:

Texas lawmakers cut sex ed from two six-month courses to a single unit of "abstinence only" education. But early indications showed that the program wasn't working. In fact, teens in almost all high school grades were having more sex after undergoing the abstinence only program. By 2007, Texas had the highest teen birth rate in the nation.

Nevertheless, the program continued. By 2009, 94 percent of Texas schools, which at the time were educating more than 3.7 million students, were giving no sex ed whatsoever beyond "abstinence only," a curriculum that includes emphasizing that birth control doesn't work.

Instead of providing fact-based information, the programs use fear and Jesus -- over-emphasizing the risks of sexually transmitted diseases leading to cervical cancer, radical hysterectomy and death, together with Christian morality.

One Texas public school district's sex ed handout is entitled "Things to Look for in a Mate:"

I. How they relate to God
A. Is Jesus their first love?
B. Trying to impress people or serve God?

Another public school district uses this:

Question: "What does the Bible say about sex before marriage/premarital sex?"

Answer: Along with all other kinds of sexual immorality, sex before marriage/premarital sex is repeatedly condemned in Scripture (Acts 15:20; Romans 1:29; 1 Corinthians 5:1; 6:13,18; 7:2; 10:8; 2 Corinthians 12:21; Galatians 5:19; Ephesians 5:3; Colossians 3:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; Jude 7).

The results? Teen pregnancy in Texas went up -- higher than before "abstinence only," and more than 50 percent higher than the national average. Even more troubling was that repeat teen pregnancy went up -- to the point that it, too, led the nation. It turns out that Texas kids thought that "if birth control doesn't work, why use it?"

But none of this seems to matter to Gov. Rick Perry. When confronted with the dismal statistics during an October 15, 2010 televised interview with Texas Tribune reporter Evan Smith, Perry's response was to reaffirm that "abstinence works."

The audience laughed and Smith pointed out the state's abysmal teen pregnancy rate. "It works," insisted Perry. "Maybe it's the way it's being taught, or the way it's being applied out there, but the fact of the matter is it is the best form of -- uh -- to teach our children." Smith asked for a statistic to suggest it works, and Perry replied that "I'm just going to tell you from my own personal life, abstinence works."

Like somebody suggested on an earlier thread, if Palin decides to pass on a Presidential run this time around, Perry has to be on her short list of those to endorse.

Of course we have already seen what a Rick Perry presidency would look like during the eight years that George W. Bush ran this country into the ground.  I said once before that a Rick Perry candidacy really concerned me, and it does, but I cannot imagine the American people not getting a raucous case of deja vu every time this poor man's version of Jethro Bodine opened up his mouth.

That alone should be enough to doom his chances.

At least that is the hope I am hanging my hat on.

Marcus Bachmann gives interview to explain away allegations made aboutt him, his wife, and their clinic. Oh, and he is "flaming" mad too!

Michele Bachmann's husband Marcus Bachmann, agreed to an interview with the Star Tribune.

Here is Marcus Bachmann's response to the allegations that his clinic engages in reparative therapy:

"This individual came to us under a false pretense,'' Bachmann said. "The truth of the matter is he specifically asked for help.''

And the help he received was to repress who he was and live his life in total denial, for all eternity. Gee now WHY does that remind me of somebody?

 On calling gays "barbarians":

Bachmann said that someone must have doctored the recording of the interview, in which he addressed child discipline as well as homosexuality and sex education.

The recording also became a focus of media attention this week, including ABC's "Nightline."

"I was talking in reference to children. Nothing, nothing to do with homosexuality. That's not my mindset. That's not my belief system. That's not the way I would talk," Bachmann said.

"I think the strongest myth. ... is the myth that I have ever called a homosexual a barbarian," Bachmann said

Unfortunately for Marcus I am not sure that Americans are going to be that much happier with the idea of their children being called "barbarians" by a grown man.

Besides the blogger who first posted the video, states unequivocally that it was NOT doctored in any way.

In response to news that the Bachmann clinics accept federal Medicaid funds, while his wife attacks government funding:

Bachmann said federal and state subsidies flow to his business because it doesn't discriminate against patients in subsidized health-care programs.

"It's low income. It's people who are on limited income," Bachmann said. "It is a lower-paying insurance. It's not a money maker. ... So, gee, we get criticized because we take it. And somehow they tie it all in, into my wife because she's the big proponent of less taxes and less programs and so forth.

"So, over and over the bell rings about how we take this federal money," he continued. "Oooh, how evil that is. And I say to you: 'No. It would be evil not to.'"

"There are many grants that are just not that wise. This one actually made a lot of sense," Bachmann said. He said his business lost money by accepting the grant because the training kept employees from seeing clients.

"It had to go and rightfully so, totally to the employees. It didn't go into the pot where Bachmann & Associates could collect, receive, so that we could go on a little vacation or go to wherever," he said.

So it is okay to take government funds for providing widely discredited counseling, while your wife stands on a soapbox decrying government waste, because it "actually made a lot of sense?"

Well I guess it is not technically fraud unless Dr. Bachmann is not really a doctor of Psychology, but that would be crazy tal...wait what is that you say?

On his website Dr. Bachmann states he’s had 23 years experience. Simple math brings us to the year 1988. If Dr. Bachmann’s Ph.D. was completed prior to this date, he might have graduated from The Union Graduate School which offered ONLY a Ph.D. in Arts and Sciences. If he graduated later than 1986, then he would have graduated from The Union Institute (1986), or The Union Institute and University (2001) and his Ph.D. would have been in Interdisciplinary Studies.

Ohhh!  Well that is not good.  But I guess as long as he is a licensed clinician he should be fin...what...seriously?

Bachmann is not a licensed psychologist in Minnesota, but state law has allowed unlicensed therapists to see patients. According to the Bachmann & Associates website, he has been a clinical therapist in the Twin Cities for more than 20 years.

Unbelievable. These people may in fact be grifters ALMOST on the same level as the Palin Traveling Circus, and Baby Factory.

By the way, for any of you who might be interested, the Bachmann's just came out with a video to explain their views on marriage.

Politicususa reports on the death threats that come from some so-called Christians when they dislike certain criticisms.

Courtesy of Politicususa:

A newspaper opinion writer received a series of death threats for a commentary on church involvement in her local school district and was told to make her peace with god and write a retraction or she would be abducted outside of the newspaper where her truck was parked and taken to a field and set on fire.

A male journalist received a phone call from an irate conservative who informed him that unless he stopped criticizing the tea party, the true patriots of America would invade his home at night, tie him up and make him witness his wife and two daughters being raped and then dismembered before his eyes.

In California, a reporter awoke to the sound of breaking glass and shouts of, “USA, USA” and “fucking traitor” for writing a column criticizing the city for spending tax dollars on firework displays instead of assistance for homeless veterans. The same young man wrote an opinion piece criticizing local churches for campaigning against same-sex marriage, and within a week of the commentary returned home from work to find signs on his yard ordering him to “obey your god” and “pray or die.” The writer has since moved to a different neighborhood where last month a letter arrived telling him there was nowhere he could hide that “god’s soldiers won’t find you.”

The FBI says most threats journalists receive are from cowards emboldened by the anonymity the Internet provides and disposable cell phones, but at the same time, they give a warning that all journalists should heed. They said a person who takes the time to call, email, or write a letter is just one small outrage away from acting on a threat of violence.

I have certainly had my share of threats and crazed e-mails as well.

I just send them to the FBI and let them put them in the file.

Somehow I have to believe that many of us who are bloggers, journalists, or television reporters, get FAR more death threats than Sarah Palin has ever seen.  Just to keep things in perspective.

Did you have an enjoyable Rapture Day? Well here are some who certainly did not!

"What? Who thought people would actually believeme?

I think those of us who tend to think, rather than believe, had little difficulty having a relaxing, and sometimes comical, Rapture Day.  However there are those who spent the day in complete disbelief as they had their "gullibility hymen" ruptured, and their innocence ripped away from them.

Courtesy of the LA Times:

Keith Bauer, a 38-year-old tractor-trailer driver from Westminster, Md., took last week off from work, packed his wife, young son and a relative in their SUV and crossed the country.

If it was his last week on Earth, he wanted to see parts of it he'd always heard about but missed, such as the Grand Canyon. With maxed-out credit cards and a growing mountain of bills, he said, the rapture would have been a relief.

On Saturday morning, Bauer was parked in front of the Oakland headquarters of Camping's Family Radio empire, half expecting to see an angry mob of disenchanted believers howling for the preacher's head. The office was closed, and the street was mostly deserted save for journalists.

Bauer said he was not bitter. "Worst-case scenario for me, I got to see the country," he said. "If I should be angry at anybody, it should be me."

Tom Evans, who acted as Camping's PR aide in recent months, took his family to Ohio to await the rapture. Early next week, he said, he would be returning to California.

"You can imagine we're pretty disappointed, but the word of God is still true," he said. "We obviously went too far, and that's something we need to learn from."

Despite the failure of Camping's prediction, however, he said he might continue working for him.
"As bad as it appears—and there's no getting around it, it is bad, flat-out—I have not found anything close to the faithfulness of Family Radio," he said.

Others had risked a lot more on Camping's prediction, quitting jobs, abandoning relationships, volunteering months of their time to spread the word. Matt Tuter, the longtime producer of Camping's radio and television call-in show, said Saturday that he expected there to be "a lot of angry people" as reality proved Camping wrong.

Tuter said Family Radio's AM station in Sacramento had been "severely vandalized" Friday night or Saturday morning, with air conditioning units yanked out and $25,000 worth of copper stripped from the equipment. He thinks it must have been an angry listener. He was off Saturday but planned to drive past the headquarters "and make sure nothing's burning."

Camping himself, who has given innumerable interviews in recent months, was staying out of sight Saturday. No one answered the door at his Alameda home, though neighbors said he was there.

You know I want to be sympathetic, but I just can't. These people were clearly born to be taken advantage of. As a matter of fact, one has to wonder just how many of THESE people are also SarahPAC contributors?

But the group that I CAN feel sympathy for are the children of these brain damaged imbeciles. I mean there are actual human beings who rely on these apparently lobotomized morons for food, and shelter, and guidance.  I think that the local child protective services should go to their houses and take these children into state's custody before their parents convince them to do something even dumber, like get all of their information from Fox News, or go on DWTS while pregnant, or support Donald Trump's 2016 Presidential bid.

All in all the entire thing is ripe for parody. And fortunately we have the Taiwanese animators to do that very thing.

Yes, that is about the level of seriousness this whole thing deserved. If even that.

Hey, do you know how you have always thought that the Sea O'Pee were the craziest Sarah Palin supporters out there? Boy were YOU wrong!

Somebody sent me this link to a group calling themselves Prayer Warriors for Sarah Palin.

Here is a portion of the prayer they have posted for Queen Esther of the North.

EL ELYON, Most High God, I Plead the blood of the Lamb over these prayers, over all Prayer Warriors interceding for Sarah Palin, over Sarah Palin her husband Todd and their children in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I thank you Father for raising up Prayer Warriors from all walks of life for Sarah, Todd and their precious family. I thank you for your living Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword. Your Word goes forth with Power to accomplish what it says it will do.

Father you lead Sarah in the path of righteousness for Your Name sake. Not a hair on her head shall perish. As You count the number of the stars and call them all by name you shall call up all Prayer Warriors for Sarah to lift her up in prayer everyday. She will know in her heart that You are with her as You were with Your servant David. Sarah seeks to do Your will and has placed her trust in You.

These are the people responsible for the "Prayer Shield" that Sister Sarah mentioned to Greta the other day and that she believes protects her from criticism.  (Joe McGinniss has more on this at his blog.)

Palin has believed that she has had this protection since way back when she was the Mayor of Wasilla, and it is one of the fundamental reasons why she does not believe that human criticisms, or any earthly methods, can affect her destiny.

Look I am not out to shame anybody over their religious beliefs, but could they even find a less "Christian" person to dedicate their prayers to?

Unless of course they were praying for her soul. Now THAT I could understand.

Happy Rapture Day!

I hate to be the one to point this out, but if you are reading this, you my friend are a SINNER!

I think I am going to spend all day walking up and down my block, ringing the doorbells of my uber religious neighbors. And when they come to the door I am just going to point and laugh.

By the way, THAT'S why I did not get raptured, what's your excuse?
