Sarah Palin, the woman who claimed she quit her job as Governor to save the state money, is asking the state to pay for her defense against a lawsuit.

"Help me, help me, Alaska! I am just a defenseless millionaire who once used my job to bully those who dared to question me! Can't you see I'm the victim here?

Assistant Attorney General Dale House said Palin asked the state to help defend her against the lawsuit by activist Chip Thoma. 

The claims made against Palin date to when she was governor, and House said Wednesday that it's typical for the state to get involved if the person is being sued largely because of the title they held or because of something they did in the course of their official duties. He said there are exceptions, including for criminal cases. 

House said the state will pay for his participation but not for Palin's personal lawyer, John Tiemessen, who will be co-counsel. 

Thoma is suing Palin for at least $100,000, claiming that she undertook a campaign to "punish, embarrass, discredit and silence" him while governor after he complained about tour bus traffic on the windy, narrow streets around the governor's mansion. 

Fuck this!  I certainly do not want to pay for this quitters legal bills!

Especially since I believe that Thoma has a pretty damn good case against her.


And according to the comments beneath this article at ADN, I am not the only Alaskan that feels this way.

Sounds to me like Palin's very intimidated that this is going to turn out to be something over which she will not be able to wriggle off the hook.Magnificent timing! 

Well, if anyone read Frank Bailey's book they would know $Palin did it on purpose. He has the emails that back it up. I wonder if they will be able to use her own emails against her. 

Why? Why is the state STILL paying this worthless woman? WHY? 

The state should not incur any part of this lawsuit. Wouldn't that also make the state liable in some manner? Palin used her office to embarrass a private citizen and she should not ask for state help to defend herself. 

Everybody up here knows that Palin used her position as Governor to go after her enemies, bully other Alaskans, and give her family and friends state jobs and perks to keep them loyal.

And now that somebody is finally going after her in court for her illegal behaviors she is playing the victim again and asking the state that she abandoned to protect her.

She will NEVER change.

Judge rules to protect Alaskan polar bears, choosing science over the objections of Sarah Palin.

In 2008, the U.S. government placed the polar bear on the threatened species list because of the rapid decline in Arctic sea ice, becoming “the first to be designated as threatened because of global warming.”

But in 2008, media mega-star Sarah Palin was still the governor of Alaska. Fearing that protecting the polar bear would “cripple oil and gas development” off Alaska’s coasts, Palin — a well-worn climate science denier — sued the government to remove the species from the list. Palin pointed to the high population of polar bears in 2008 and dismissed climate models that predict continued loss of sea ice as “unreliable,” “uncertain,” and “unproven.”

But U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan backed the government scientists’ finding this week “that global warming is threatening the survival of the polar bear.” In a 116-page opinion, Sullivan dismissed Palin and hunting groups’ arguments as “nothing more than competing views about policy and science” and ruled on the side of science:

"Notwithstanding a handful of references to uncertainty that appear in record documents, Joint Plaintiffs have failed to persuade this Court that FWS [U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service] implemented the ESA [Endangered Species Act] “haphazardly.” Accordingly, the Court concludes that FWS did not act arbitrarily in relying on and drawing reasonable conclusions from the IPCC [Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change] reports and climate models in making its listing determination for the polar bear."

Hard to believe that almost two years to the day that the batshit crazy loon quit her job, we are still cleaning up after the mess she left behind. Gee, I wonder how much THIS frivolous lawsuit cost my state?

I am very glad that at least judges can understand basic science, even if politicians subsidized by the oil companies cannot.

(By the way, this case is actually rather historic here at IM, as it is over Palin's response to the Federal governments decision to put the polar bears on the Endangered Species List that angered me enough to write my first post criticising her.  And I have not looked back since.)

Someone grew a pair and is suing Sarah!-Update

JUNEAU, Alaska -- An activist is suing Sarah Palin for at least $100,000, saying she undertook a campaign to "punish, embarrass, discredit and silence" him while she was Alaska's governor.
The lawsuit was filed in state court by Chip Thoma and first reported by TMZ.com.

Palin's attorney hadn't seen the lawsuit and didn't immediately comment.

It dates to 2009, after Palin returned to Juneau from her failed vice presidential bid.
Thoma's attorney, James McGowan, says Thoma complained about tour bus traffic on the narrow, windy streets around the governor's mansion. McGowan says Palin twisted Thoma's actions to make it seem like he had engaged in "some unsavory and lunatic" campaign against the Palins.

The complaint is based in part on a leaked draft manuscript of an aide of Palin's at that time.

This will definitely go to trial.  I hope Thoma's lawyer asks the following questions:

Is Todd Track's father?
Did Track vandalize school buses back in 2005?
Did Willow break into and trash a house in 2009?
Does Piper ever go to school?
Is Bristol abstinent?
Did you give birth to Trig?

JUNEAU, Alaska — A civil lawsuit alleging Sarah Palin undertook a campaign to embarrass and discredit an activist in Alaska has been moved to federal court.

Palin attorney John Tiemessen did not give a reason for his removal of the matter from state court and declined comment, saying Wednesday that he can't discuss questions of rationale "because they necessarily involve legal strategy."

An attorney for activist Chip Thoma, James McGowan, said the move could be designed to try to avoid a jury trial in Juneau.

Thoma sued Palin for at least $100,000, claiming through McGowan that she'd twisted his complaints about bus traffic around the governor's mansion to make it seem he'd engaged in an unsavory campaign against the Palins.
