"I'm the worst possible choice for this country! No, I am! I hate this country! I hate it more!" Last night's GOP debate in a nutshell.

I was only able to watch a little of this three ring circus, because I have a doctor's note that excuses me from watching too much Fox news since it dramatically impairs my ability to engage in rational thought.

However what I did see was MORE than enough to convince me that we need to work our little progressive asses off to make sure that President Obama gets reelected, and that not ONE of this simple minded douchebags should be allowed anywhere near the White House!

Seriously I don't care HOW disappointed you are in this President, or how frustrated you are that he did not wave his magic negro wand and solve all of the nation's problems like you convinced yourself he would, from what I saw last night he is this country's only hope of not ending up looking like a real life version of a "Mad Max" movie.

These are the scariest bunch of lunatics I have seen gathered on one stage since I watched patients at the Alaska Psychiatric Institute put on their version of a "Midsummer Night's Dream." (Not bad really.  I especially enjoyed the part where the actor playing Puck forgot his lines and kept asking if anybody in the audience had a copy of Shakespeare with them.)

Hearing these slack jawed candy asses claim that they would NOT raise taxes even if they were promised ten spending cuts for each tax hike made my frontal lobe scream for mercy.

I know these people are smarter than that (except for Michele Bachmann who is only about six brain cells away from having to have a cork stuck to the end of her fork) and yet they refuse to stand up to Grover Norquist and the Teabaggers, and tell the voters the truth about what it will take to fix this nation's economy.  That was a shameful display.

There were a FEW glimmers of intelligence, such as Jon Huntsman saying that he would repeal NCLB, but for the most part this appeared to a contest to see who could act like the most ignorant man on the stage.

In fact these wannabe leaders of the free world had dumbed themselves down to such a degree that having Sarah "all you need is common sense" Palin and Rick "I can't figure it out so let's pray for a solution"Perry join them onstage might actually have RAISED the combined Intelligence Quotient.

Yeah, it was THAT bad!

Now if you will excuse me I have to write a check to the Barack Obama reelection campaign.

Jonathon Capehart talks to the man who interviewed Mercede Johnston for Playboy.

Okay this guy is an imbecile, though I guess I should be pleased he liked my state so much. However he did not answer any of the Jonathon Capeheart's important questions.

However it is interesting to note that, despite what people are constantly trying to imply on this blog, he said that the residents of Wasilla did not consider Sadie a liar.

Too bad he did not ask them if they consider Sarah and Bristol liars.

I've asked that question in Wasilla and guess what? Yeah I think you know the answer to that question.I also think it is awesome that Sadie's Playboy pictorial and interview are getting much MORE media attention than the Grizzled Mama's most recent Facebook rant.Oooh that's gotta sting!

Rachel Maddow points out that the downgrading of the US credit score by S&P means little, but that the blame for any harm it might cause rests solely with the Republicans.

I believe this is the same point that I have been attempting to drive home over and over this weekend.I appreciate Rachel Maddow's gift for breaking a complicated issue down and making it much more digestible for the public at large.

Lawrence O'Donnell and Matt Damon take a courageous stand to defend our teachers against the unrelenting attacks coming from the Right Wing.

I am not ashamed to admit that I literally had tears streaming down my face as I watched this segment.

Lawrence O'Donnell's passion in bringing this, and other important, stories to our attention should earn him this country's undying gratitude, and Matt Damon? Well in my humble opinion from this day forward Matt Damon should be considered a national treasure.

He did his mother, his teachers, and his country proud.

Lawrence O'Donnells' epic takedown of Teabagger, and deadbeat dad, Joe Walsh.

As a divorced father myself, who gladly paid my child support payments on time and in full, I share O'Donnell's disgust with Rep. Joe Walsh.

I cannot tell you how angry it makes me to hear politicians use children to make a political point while refusing to support policies, or social programs, that they so desperately need.

How could we possibly trust a politician who does not even care about his OWN kids enough to make sure they are well cared for, to help protect ours?

The President asks the American people for help in solving the looming debt crisis.

Courtesy of MSNBC:

Decrying a "partisan three-ring circus" in the nation's capital, President Barack Obama criticized a newly minted Republican plan to avert an unprecedented government default Monday night and said congressional leaders must produce a compromise that can reach his desk before the Aug. 2 deadline.

"The American people may have voted for divided government, but they didn't vote for a dysfunctional government," the president said in a hastily arranged prime-time televised speech.

He appealed to the public to contact lawmakers and demand "a balanced approach" to reducing federal deficits.

In his call to action, Obama recalled former Republican commanders in chief. "In the past, raising the debt ceiling was routine ... Congress has always passed it, and every President has signed it. President Reagan did it 18 times. George W. Bush did it seven times. And we have to do it by next Tuesday, Aug. 2, or else we won't be able to pay all of our bills."

I thought the President sounded exasperated, and weary from fighting over every little thing. He has done just about everything imaginable to make this problem go away and has volunteered far deeper cuts than most Democrats are comfortable with, and STILL the Teabaggers are holding a gun to the Republicans head and refusing to let them negotiate in good faith.

I certainly hope that the voters are paying attention and realizing just WHO is acting like the responsible grownup and who is acting like the petulant child.

If you want to contact your elected officials and tell them to stop playing politics and do the right thing, just click here to find out who needs a piece of your mind.

John Boehner takes his lack of balls and goes home, essentially ending any talk of raising the debt ceiling.

Politics is all about the negotiation, and the ability to compromise.

Hoiwever compromise requires BOTH sides be willing to give up a little something.

As far as I can tell the Teabaggers simply do NOT understand this process, and are holding the Republican party and the American people hostage until they get their way. Which by the way happens to be fundamentally impossible under the constraints they have placed on negotiations.

This is what happens when people are directed to vote by their latent racist urges and hate, instead of by their brains.

Remember many of these are the same people who believe that Sarah Palin, or Michele Bachmann, have the "common sense" necessary to rescue this country from one of the very few individuals with the ability to actually solve the problems facing us today.  Which, by the way, is all we need to know about their ability to reason.

Rachel Maddow interviews Bill Moyers on his views concerning the Rupert Murdoch scandal and the state of journalism in America.

This is an interview of one of the giants of American journalism in this country conducted by one of the very best reporters we have working today.

In other words it is MUST see!

This just might be one of the most important stories unfolding right now.

There are a few of us in the "new media" who believe that Murdoch and his crew might not have limited their phone hacking to the other side of the pond.

I would certainly not be surprised to learn that there are a few phones belonging to politicians, or media competitors, or sources over here that might have reason to be concerned as well.

Unscrupulous

Lawrence O'Donnell drives a stake through the heart of the idea that Sarah Palin has ANY intention of launching a Presidential campaign for 2012.

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

So essentially Lawrence O'Donnell, and Jonathon Capehart, are simply pointing out what most of the media are not inclined to point out. Which is that Sarah Palin is no longer a viable politician, but instead simply a celebrity along the lines of a Lindsay Lohan. Only without the cocaine abuse and wasted talent.

And the reasons WHY the other "journalists" are loath to point this out, is because so long as they keep the possibility of a Palin Presidential run alive they can get more clicks on their websites, sell more subscriptions to their magazine, and attract more viewers to their cable "news" shows.

Which makes it even more interesting that Fox News so quickly jumped on this story, and reported it without ever even contacting Palin first (Since they are in fact the only news outlet with the capability to do so), to get her side of the story.

It kind of makes one wonder if the relationship between Fox News and Sarah Palin has not subtly changed somehow.

Or perhaps NOT so subtly changed.
